Raising yoga therapy to a profession.
A Singapore-registered, non-profit professional body uniting yoga therapists, teachers, institutions and researchers across Asia.
Founded in 2016, built on decades of practice.
AYTA was created to realise a long-held wish among yoga therapists and physicians: a common platform to share expertise, set standards and grow the field together.
Envisioned by pioneers whose work spans back to the 1980s, AYTA brings research-based knowledge and clinical experience to a single mission — establishing yoga therapy as a respected, evidence-informed complement to modern care.
Today the association registers and certifies practitioners, accredits training schools, convenes an annual international conference, and maintains a public directory the community can trust.

Membership FAQ.
Which membership is right for me?
If you are still studying, start with Student. Practising yoga teachers choose Yoga Teacher / Professional. Those with 300+ hours of therapy training qualify for Certified Therapist. Schools and centres choose Institutional, and brands or allied-health organisations choose Associate.
What do I need to provide to join?
To create your membership we ask only for basic details and your membership type. You complete your full profile — certificates, training hours, photo and bio — afterwards from your member dashboard, at your own pace.
How does verification work?
Once you submit your qualification documents, the AYTA team reviews them. Approved members receive a verifiable certificate and a “verified” badge on their public directory listing.
Is the fee annual?
Yes, membership renews every 12 months. You can manage or cancel renewal any time from your dashboard.
Can I upgrade later?
Absolutely. As your training and experience grow you can move to a higher pathway and only pay the difference.

Accreditation is trust, made visible.

Protects the public

What is yoga therapy?
A holistic, individualised use of yoga practices to support health — distinct from a general yoga class.
Yoga therapy is a system of healing in which a specific condition is approached holistically, adapting yoga’s tools — postures, breath, relaxation and meditation — to a person’s individual needs.
Where a general yoga class is one practice for a whole room, yoga therapy is tailored to the individual and most often works alongside non-communicable and lifestyle conditions, complementing conventional care rather than replacing it.
It rests on two pillars: the heritage of traditional practice and the growing body of peer-reviewed research that lets us apply it safely and effectively.
